What is Family Therapy?
Family therapy is a type of therapy that can help families explore and talk about problems that have arisen that may be upsetting or cause members of the family to feel unwell.
Sometimes families can benefit from seeing a family therapist as a family therapist can hold conversations that can explore issues that can be difficult to talk about and sometimes lead to heated discussions. A family therapist can help navigate these discussions and offers each family member the space to talk and hopefully find some resolution to their problems.
What Can It Help With?
Family therapy can be helpful across a wide range of issues such as adolescent and adult mental health issues including anxiety, depression and eating disorders for example. Family therapy doesn’t always have to involve everyone in the family although it is important that those close to the problems should be included or invited to discussions.
Can I See Family Therapists On My Own?
Absolutely! Family Therapists can also see people on an individual basis as well to discuss their problems. This can be helpful for people to explore their problems and dilemmas and think about how they may have arisen over time as well as think about the resources that they need to overcome these.
How Much Does This Cost?
A typical session is £85 per hour.
